We all come across many terms as comets and meteor and other things but we never care to check out what's the difference between all of them. Down here I have differentiated between them .
COMETS
A comet is just made up of solar dust and ice of water , methane , ammonia , CO2 , etc. It's almost an iceball with some space dust .
Just like the planets , comets were formed with the solar system , orbit the sun in a highly elliptical orbit and follow kepler's laws. Their centre (nucleas) is made up of ice and is covered with gas and dust called 'coma'. This coma , when heated , forms the tail we see in a shooting star.

METEOROID
Meteoroids are the objects generally made up of fragments of asteroids or some are the collision debris ejected from moon or mars. These are not very large in size though , just varying between dust size to 10 meter in diameter . Larger ones are called Asteroid.

Any space object , that falls into the earth's atmosphere and burns up due to the aerodynamic friction of air is called a Meteor . Its speed generally exceeds 20 km/s or
72,000 km/h! When burned lit , it gives birth to the shooting star phenomenon.

Objects which orbit the sun but are much smaller than planets , mostly made up of rock and clay .
These are found in clusters , like the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. These are in some explanations 'minor planets' , also called 'planetoids'.
BONUS FACT
The asteroid belt is not the only asteroid cluster in our solar system. There is also a kuiper belt Which is much larger , It comes after the dwarf planet pluto.

If a meteor survives it's fall down to earth . What lands and remains is called a meteorite . These are some very expensive materials , mostly found in museums or on the shelves of some collectors.

And after the kuiper belt , comes the biggest asteroid cluster in our solar system , the Oort cloud . Though not being a disc like structure its actually spherical and engulfs all the body in the solar system !
